Meeting notes taken by Bob Brown.

1.  Minutes of the previous meeting held on August 3, 2005 were approved with one correction:  Brad Tyleman should be recorded as sending in regrets for the August meeting.

2.  Project updates:     (i)  Hatt Street in Dundas:  Daryl Will take some photos of the existing road allowance and forward them to Brian Applebee to include in the meeting regarding proposed changes for bicycle lanes with the representative Councillor for Dundas.

(ii) Red Hill Expressway:  Brian will resend the e-mail previously sent to Red Hill Staff reps regarding the paved route for East-West cyclists that the Cycling Committee would like under the viaduct just to the north of Old Mud Street

(iii)  Bay St. (Aberdeen to Stuart St):  Brian Applebee discussed the Traffic Department possibly looking at bicycle options for allowing bicycling both North and Southbound on this stretch of Bay St.  Brian will forward the request for this investigation to City Officials.

3.  Reprinting of the 8-route brochure:  Moved by Brad Tyleman, seconded by Al Horzelenberg that an additional 3000 copies of the eight route brochure be reprinted at a cost of approximately $1/unit.  MOTION CARRIED.

Note:  It is asked that Committee Members review the existing brochure and send any changes they would like to Daryl as soon as possible.

4.  Committee relationship with Tourism Hamilton:  A need to have a link to the Cycling Website through the Tourism Hamilton section of  www.myhamilton.ca is needed and also to have the Cycling Website URL mentioned on Tourism Brochures.  A letter will be required to have this happen before their next printing.

Tourism Hamilton needs to have the location of their office promoted more extensively in the Hamilton community, for both local residents and tourists from out of town.  Al Horzelenberg volunteered to draft a letter and circulate it for Committee comments prior to sending it out.

It was suggested that we have a representative from Tourism Hamilton attend a future Committee Meeting to review Cycling Committee attendance/promotion at Festivals and other events including those happening in other municipalities.

5.  Carry-over of “Action” items from last meeting (August 3, 2005):

            (i)  Tarquin Adams will continue to check for the planned existence of bike lanes for King St. (Centennial Parkway to Queenston Rd)

(ii)  Cheri Weaver will check into bike rack designs for the City of Guelph.  Is there anyone on the Committee who can check with the City of Toronto?

(iii)  Re:  Updated City Cycling Web page:  All Committee members are requested to take a quick look at the www.hamilton.ca/cycling website to see if there is anything that needs to be transferred or built into the new www.myhamilton.ca website.  Please let Brian Applebee know.

(iv)  Action items listed under minute #6 in the August 3, 2005 meeting are to be reviewed for status.  Each committee member who is listed in these action items is requested to respond at the next meeting.

6.  Finances:  It was requested that the Committee be updated at the regular monthly meetings with a brief Financial Overview Statement to show where money is being spent in the following three areas:

7.  Brian Applebee will be on vacation at the time of the next Committee Meeting on October 5, 2005.  The committee agreed that it will not be necessary to have City Staff representation at this meeting.  Brian will update the Committee on projects prior to the meeting.
